Located in the Tech oNE Crossing technology and industrial park, this area was zoned by the city for data center use. This project delivers on that vision, developing data centers exactly where they belong.

SDV and MARA are partnering with Central Community College to create a Data Center Operations Certificate Program that would help connect local students and workers to careers on the Kearney campus.

K–12 STEM Support

SDV and MARA are supporting Kearney Public Schools STEM and FIRST Robotics programming through equipment, mentorship from campus engineers, and scholarships for students pursuing STEM and trades careers.

Water Stewardship

Our closed-loop cooling system is designed to conserve water from day one. After its initial fill, it recirculates the same supply. This keeps ongoing water use exceptionally low.

No new energy demand for the 100 MW phase 1. This building will re-use existing power currently used by the adjacent bitcoin miner.
Water
Our data centers use less water than 1 fast food restaurant. Our closed-loop, state of the art cooling system re-uses water to conserve resources and to be efficient.
Sound
We are making this area quieter. Sound levels will meet all new code requirements and will be continually upheld to these strict standards throughout the life of the project.
Green Standards
Every project targets a minimum certification of LEED v4 BD+C Core & Shell Silver or Green Globes 2 Globes. Our designs embed sustainability across certification, energy, water, site, and materials.

What is being proposed?

SDV and MARA are proposing a multi-phase digital infrastructure campus in Kearney, Nebraska. Phase 1 is currently planned for 100 MW of already existing capacity today.

Where would it be located?

The proposed campus would be located in the Tech oNE Crossing, which was designed to serve as a digital infrastructure hub for the region. The site has already been identified for industrial and data center use, and the project would create a productive long-term use for an underutilized site.

What is a data center?

Data center infrastructure is the foundation of modern American life. Anything that takes place online is powered by a data center - from the internet and cloud computing to hospital records and police dispatch. Every phone call routed, every plane sequenced through the skies, every online order, hospital chart, credit-card swipe, and TV streaming goes through a data center. Data centers support industries, enable the technology we use every day, and make every day life more efficient and more secure for all - from doctors, teachers, farmers, banks, municipal services, and workers across the economy.

Will there be local education or workforce partnerships?

SDV and MARA are committed to partnerships with Central Community College and Kearney Public Schools, including workforce training and STEM/FIRST Robotics support.

Will residents have a way to ask questions?

Yes. This site includes a contact form where residents can submit questions, comments, and requests for more information.

Does this project cause my power bills to rise?

Power for Phase 1 is re-using the existing power from the crypto facility. No new power will be needed. Any future phases in 2030 and beyond will be fully paid for by the project directly to NPPD so only the project incurs any new costs.

How is the water impacted?

Efficient closed-loop cooling technology minimizes water use. The data center building will use less water than a fast food restaurant. Once filled, the cooling water stays in the facility’s pipes and circulates. The only sewage is for bathrooms and a kitchen pantry – the same as any other commercial building.

Are data centers noisy?

No. We are making this area quieter. Sound will meet the new code requirements and be upheld to these strict new standards.
